Teresa Barrett, LMSW
Early on in her academic career, Teresa recognized that she wanted to be the person that she needed. Originally, Teresa went to nursing school. She switched from nursing to social work when she decided that therapy was the best way for her to be present for others. Teresa Barrett achieved both her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Adelphi University.
Teresa promotes empowerment in her clients through a collaborative approach. This means she actively works with you in finding and creating solutions unique to you. Teresa accepts her clients for who they are and engages them wherever they are in their therapeutic and life journeys. Using various techniques, including CBT and psychodynamic, Teresa works with her clients to create and achieve personal and relationship goals in a way that best works for them.
Teresa has ample experience working with college students and people in neurodiverse relationships and teaching clients communication and emotional regulation skills. Teresa is passionate about her work with LGBTQA+ individuals and relationships of all types. She can support clients eager to improve their sexual functioning (such as with orgasm or erection difficulties) or those dealing with pelvic pain and rehabilitation. Clients might be navigating orientations and identities. Teresa is also highly capable of helping couples as they bring their relationship to greater authenticity and joy.

When not working at LIST, Teresa enjoys art, swimming at the beach, and getting tattoos.
